Crash on I-70 in Colorado kills Colby woman

One woman was killed and another woman injured in a single-car accident Thursday afternoon near the Kansas-Colorado line on Interstate 70.

According to the Colorado State Police, the incident occured at 1:26PM (mountain time). Joann Stephens, 57, of Colby was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on I-70, near mile marker 445, when she lost control and enter the center median. The vehicle rolled three times and both occupants were ejected. Stephens was transferred to the Burlington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle, Aubrette Stephens, 23, of Colby, was transported to St. Anthony’s in Denver where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
